For several years HGTV Ideas was the magazine of ideas and inspiration
for fans of the popular Home & Garden Television network.
As Craft Editor, Holly Christian was an important part of the HGTV
Ideas team, delivering pages and pages of craft projects for each issue.
Christian expanded on craft ideas and projects presented on the popular
HGTV craft shows (Decorating with Style, The Carol Duvall Show, Treasure
Makers, and Kitty Bartholomew: You’re Home), providing consise
direction, how-to sketches, and interesting twists on the show’s
crafts.
She also conceptualized a variety of original craft packages, from
sophisticated wax bowls and floating candles to simple wire garden sculptures
and button bracelets. Whether simple or sophisticated, the crafts created
for the magazine were of the highest quality ad cratsmanship, the step-by-step
instructions were clearly presented and ample resources were provided.
Christan worked closely with the editor and art director of the magazine
to ensure that the preentation of the craft projects was the best it
could be, from the styling of the photo shoots to the layout and design
of the pages.
Several of Christian’s crafts graced the covers of HGTV Ideas
magazine and the credit for the quality of the magazines crafts and
the originality of their presentation rests with her.
