corner of Ondule shop I now have a little

shop in Northeast Minneapolis called

Ondulé, a French

adjective meaning

undulating or wavy,

which we use to

describe our walls.

This little place fell in my lap, and its assets - a great location

in arty NE Mpls and a wonderful old storefront window - were nearly overshadowed by its drawbacks: hideous ceiling tiles, crooked walls, broken paneling, duct-taped carpeting, and that distinct old-building smell.

Ondule store wall My partner and I removed what we could, used scraps of wood to keep the paneled walls from buckling too severely, and then painted over everything in our path, dead or alive. I covered the ceiling with strips of tie-dyed fabric and decoupaged the holey paneling with dictionary pages and glue (amazing what you can do with a little elmer's glue), and in we moved.

We feature works of art and one-of-a-kind handcrafted items (most made by artist friends and family), vintage goods, and some wonderful greeting cards. Favorites: my daughter Lizzie's fabulous plasma-cut lanterns, and jewelry I make with beach glass, rocks, and buttons.
