Rose Crafts
HGTV Ideas magazine

This article for HGTV Ideas print magazine included all sorts
of rose crafts, even including (my favorite) edible chocolate roses.
This old-fashioned arrangement is surprisingly easy to make.
Insert dried roses and hydrangea in a piece of floral foam nestled in a
clay pot. Add glossy magnolia leaves if desired, then tuck bits of
Spanish moss around the edges of the arrangement to cover the floral
foam. To dry roses, hang them upside-down out of direct sunlight. Even
roses past their prime dry nicely. Hydrangeas dry best in an upright
position.

Most of the projects were simple to make and required only
easy-to-find supplies: roses made of ribbon, dried arrangements of
roses and hydrangea, a rose barrette made with polymer clay. Many of
the projects were made with cast-offs or other cheapies: a
rose-stenciled key rack made from an old piece of wood molding,
rose-petal beads made with fallen petals, rose-painted dinnerware
created from a mismatched bunch of white ceramic dishes, and
rose-patterned notecards printed with stamps made from foam meat trays.
Step-by-step directions and a list of supply resources
accompanied each project.
